Before you change domain settings

• Keep a copy of the current DNS zone before making larger changes.
• Lower the TTL before planned migrations when possible.
• Check whether the domain uses external nameservers. If it does, DNS records must be changed at that DNS provider.
• Allow time for DNS propagation. Most changes are visible within a few minutes to several hours, but some resolvers can cache old data for up to 24 to 48 hours.
