Connection details
You need the following details from your PBS Datastore Hosting service before you configure backups:
| Detail | Example |
|---|---|
| PBS server | pbs.example.com |
| PBS port | 8007 |
| Username | customer@pbs |
| Password or API token secret | Provided in your service details |
| Datastore | customer-datastore |
| Namespace | Optional, for example pve or virtfusion |
| TLS fingerprint | SHA-256 certificate fingerprint |
Use the exact datastore and namespace values from your service. PBS treats names as case-sensitive.
Security notes
- Store PBS passwords, API token secrets and encryption keys securely.
- If you enable client-side encryption, keep the encryption key outside the PVE host and outside PBS.
- A lost encryption key means encrypted backups cannot be restored.
- Test a restore after the first successful backup.
